Sustainia and BI Norwegian Business School joined into a long term partnership in 2018 to help BI integrate sustainability into every aspect of their operations. BI hosted the launch event for the Global Opportunity Explorer 2019 insights, the Global Opportunity Day, bringing together students and businesses.
The challenge
Combating climate change and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals requires an interdisciplinary and intergenerational approach, but academic institutions face a range of challenges in order to achieve this. BI has committed to be a part of the solution rather than the problem.
“BI has made the conscious decision to be part of the solution rather than the problem. We are working to integrate the UN’s sustainable development goals in all our programs, research and operations. Our ambition is to contribute to a sustainable societal development by equipping students with skills and a mindset to face future challenges in a sustainable way”, says Inge Jan Henjesand President of BI Norwegian Business School.
The solution
As a Global Opportunity Explorer partner, BI’s sustainability updates are communicated on the platform, expanding their reach outside of academia. Furthermore, BI used the Global Opportunity Explorer 2019 Insights as a focal point for their first Global Opportunity Day, where over 500 business people and students met at their campus in Oslo to discuss how to turn risks to opportunities. Sustainia is looking forward to help BI advance even further on their journey of fully integrating sustainability into all parts of their operations.
