The Global Opportunity Explorer is a digital database and world’s largest collection of vetted and verified sustainable solutions.

The world is facing some extraordinary challenges, addressed by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Sometimes the challenges can seem impossibly large, but solutions do exist. Innovations are occurring all over the world, but it can be difficult to know best practices, or know how others have addressed similar challenges in other areas of the world.

The Global Opportunity Explorer is a digital ecosystem for sustainable solutions from businesses and cities. The Global Opportunity Explorer aims to help business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors and policy makers connect with new partners, projects, and markets to foster partnerships for a more sustainable world by 2030. Rooted in over five years of research involving 18,000 business leaders and 17 expert panels, the Global Opportunity Explorer showcases hundreds of sustainable solutions and market opportunities. Solutions are vetted according to five selection criteria. They must have a positive environmental benefit, be innovative, readily available, financially viable, and contribute to improved quality of life.

The Global Opportunity Explorer is a joint project of Sustainia, DNV GL and the UN Global Compact, created on the conviction that the SDGs offer a myriad of business opportunities with great value to companies, society and the environment.

Any institution with a sustainable alternative or solution can apply for a solution page, free of charge, by clicking here.  Sustainia will review your submission and create a solution page following our documented assessment criteria. It will then be sent to our review board for their review.

The risks facing the world are so large and complex that they cannot be tackled alone. The underlying logic of the Global Opportunity Explorer is to connect ideas with backers, and to create new networks in pursuit of sustainable solutions.
